A collection of daffodils is beginning to bloom in the Central Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

Daffodils are a popular perennial bulbous plant. These flowers prefer sunny and open places, but can successfully withstand partial shade. Daffodils bloom in April-May.

  • Daffodils have become an integral part of perfumery since the early days of this art, but now the natural oils of these flowers have almost completely replaced synthetic analogues.
  • There are up to 13 thousand hybrids of daffodils on the planet and only 54 primary species.
  • Daffodil juice is harmful to other plants, so before adding them to a bouquet, florists keep the flowers in water for 24 hours. Because of the poisonous juice, animals practically do not eat daffodils.
  • In China, daffodils are an integral part of the New Year celebration and are considered a guarantee of future happiness.
